What clients are saying...

"Simply put, Kim is AMAZING…

She’s a wonderful teacher. She is patient and takes the time to understand YOUR movement capabilities. She works with what you CAN do.

As a person with a unique shoulder injury, she understands my limitations, yet offers a constant challenge and isn’t afraid to let me try new things. She will break movements down to the most basic level and progresses you through to more advanced moves as you are ready. (Usually [you do] not even realize you are doing it).

She puts a great deal of time and effort into designing and programming each session; and can identify what you need more than you do.  Kim understands how the body works, and if you open your mind, try, listen, trust and focus, she will get the most out of you.

I  know that I would never have achieved what I have so far if not for the personal attention in my training sessions. I leave each session always feeling better than when I started.

Maybe most important, Kim empowers you, and encourages you to do your best.  She is supportive of you as a person and gives you a SAFE, non-judgmental space. Kim is with you on the journey (both mentally and physically) supporting, coaching, and understanding…her professionalism and passion for what she does is evident and second to none."

"Kim has been a saving grace in helping recover from my knee surgery after I completed physical therapy ... I look forward to my workout sessions not as torture but a time to improve and strengthen my body and lessen my pain.

I have had several trainers over the years and after a couple of sessions quit. Kim spends time learning about a person’s limitations and what motivates them. None of my previous trainers have ever done that nor have they suggested a workout plan which did not involve doing things my body can no longer do.

Kim has been a saving grace in helping recover from my knee surgery after I completed physical therapy. She has taken the time to learn about my health issues and the disease process I am going through and then develop a workout plan to strengthen muscles which help support my health issues.

I look forward to my workout sessions not as torture but a time to improve and strengthen my body and lessen my pain. I may come in pain, but I always leave feeling better then when I came.

Her sessions are never boring using the same routines but fun and challenging. She rethinks an exercise using other methods, so I achieve the same goal but don’t have to crawl on the ground. While I am not as physically fit as many others I see in other gym, I am on my way to achieve that the balance of improved health and physical fitness. I could not do that without Kim’s help

"...we joined a health club thinking we could address our issues on our own, but it really didn't work. ... you can use the equipment but if you're not doing it the right way it can be disastrous and make things worse.

My husband and I have serious back issues and Kim has been able to address each of them. It took... serious commitment but we finally got some relief. The big takeaway for us is that you can use the equipment but if you're not doing it the right way it can be disastrous and make things worse.

Along with the hard work, Kim always tries to mix things up and gives us different challenges to make things more interesting and fun.

Through the years other aches and pains have come up and Kin has been able to work [with] them while focusing on our back problems. She has gone the extra mile when I needed physical therapy by coming to my  PT session and communicating with the therapist.

Since my husband traveled a lot, she was very accommodating with our schedules.

Above all, she is always willing to help and answer our questions, and most importantly, the training has proved to be one of the best decisions we ever made regarding our health"

"Talking with Kim at our first meeting helped me really think through what is important to me and what I want to achieve -- I realized that "being skinny" wasn't , rather the need to have a happy healthy body is"

I've always had an off and on relationship with fitness. I've found myself motivated and willing to get into a regular fitness routine, but then would get bored or uninspired which would derail me from my progress.

Recently, I've found my motivation again as I see older family members struggle with strength and mobility. At this time in my life, I know I need to start working toward being healthy and strong so that I can continue to age gracefully!!

A friend recommended Kim to me and after seeing and hearing of the results she had I was excited to connect with [Kim].Talking with Kim at our first meeting helped me really think through what is important to me and what I want to achieve -- I realized that "being skinny" wasn't , rather the need to have a happy healthy body is.

Kim also wants to understand your likes and dislikes -- what has worked in the past, what hasn't -- to create workouts and plans that set you up for success. And for me this includes variety based upon the types of exercise I love. Every workout is always new and different -- so important to me because I burn out so quickly!

The other critical piece that has led me to success with Kim is the fact that she KNOWS exercise, fitness and physiology. The smallest adjustment can make a huge impact on your results. She addresses and adjusts throughout the the workout. I've ever had this before and I wish I did -- I've learned so much my body and it's connections that I can't believe I've never known before! After just 8 weeks, I've been noticeably reshaping my body, but more importantly I'm stronger and more flexible than I was before -- and I feel so good physically and mentally!

For anyone thinking about it -- do it! Kim will work with you to tailor your journey to your ability and preferences to help you achieve your fitness goals. I am proof that you can do it"!

"

"Tomorrow is today. Do not stop, don’t give up and put the work in. Kim will get you there... Kim has improved my range of motion, flexibility, strength, weight, aches, and pains. My recovery time from a workout or work is a huge difference."

When did you start your fitness journey [with Kim]?

I think it was November 2020 [less Covid shut down]

What motivated you to start?

I’ve started and stopped several times and decided I wasn’t getting younger and healthier my way.

What were some of your goals when you started; what are your goals now?

  1. Get Healthier

  2. Feel physically better

  3. Look physically better

  4. Weight loss

  5. More energy

What have been your greatest achievements?

My aha moment of mass improvement was running up my stairs carrying a full bin of something. (I used to have to drag myself up the stairs by the handrail and often felt pain in the knees and other places and quite frankly, winded.)

What were/are your biggest struggles: did you think you would overcome them?

Struggles: I felt worse after working out, awful after my workday and the following day I felt awful and then was lazy. [By that I mean] hurting more or having knee troubles, back problems, etc.

I had hopes to lose weight and therefore feel better by not carrying it around. I didn’t think overall aches and pains would improve so much. I can tell you they have improved, and the recovery is great.

What advice would you give to new clients/members?

Tomorrow is today. Do not stop, don’t give up and put the work in. Kim will get you there.

If you had to start over again from your first workout, what would you change?

I would have started much sooner.

How would you describe your experience: fun, educational, rewarding, informative, innovative, challenging, etc.

Very educational and informative. Kim innovative and can change things on the fly and adjust for home workouts. It is challenging but fun at the same time. The reward is the change in my life.

What is your favorite thing about your workouts?

I absolutely love Pilates. Stretching and core work has improved so much and allowed for an amazing recovery time. My flexibility is so much better, and I don’t feel so old anymore. I also appreciate Kim isn’t about adding weights to bulk up but does so as I become stronger. Trainers in the past have been about adding weight as your gauge that you are improving.

Is your experience with Kim Sherwin different than other workout experiences such as working out on your own or working with previous trainers?

So much different! I have worked out on and off over the last 15 years both on my own and with about 3 different trainers prior to Kim. I felt I did better on my own. I often stopped working out with past trainers because I didn’t feel like I got the results I needed, was often injured or hurting more than when I started yet spending lots of money to lose a little weight but gain more aches and pains. I’d have to stop with an injury or something. [The pain from] 3 knee surgeries, [and] back and neck injuries that got worse, not better. Looking back, they were all similar in that lots of weighted squats, deadlifts, and such but not form and function over heft.

Kim has improved my range of motion, flexibility, strength, weight, aches, and pains. My recovery time from a workout or work is a huge difference. I was also able to workout and work through a bad knee injury for a couple months (my clumsy fault), where in the past I would have stopped working out to “rest” it and heal. Kim [appropriately addressed] it and built my workouts around it.

                                                                                                                                --Shari

"Her education and previous jobs assures me that she is qualified to work with anyone's ability level and physical challenges..."

I began a regular planned fitness routine about 12 years ago when Kim somehow managed to sell me on personal training programs. That, in itself, was an accomplishment as I was the student who hated attending PE classes, was never on any athletic teams, and swore that no one would ever make me do physically challenging activities again after graduation- that's not to say I became a total couch potato. I did attend aerobics classes when set to music and obviously I was a member of a health club when Kim sold me on the program.

I decided I needed the accountability and Kim paired me with a trainer who had the tough job of lowering my self-consciousness and raising my comfort level in the gym which he did. He even convinced me to run my first 5K race.

I returned to Kim when he moved and joined one of her small group personal training classes. I enjoy the comradery and moral support the group provides. Along the way [I] became stronger, more self-confident, and able to do more difficult exercises.

Kim always starts the class by asking how you are and if you have any issues she readily modifies the exercises such as [adding specific] stretches to address the issue. Her education and previous jobs assures me that she is qualified to work with anyone's ability level and physical challenges [as she] adjusts a training program to suit the individual persons needs while still challenging that person to achieve more.

Her program's are always different from week to week which keeps it interesting.

                                                                                                                                --Karen

"I’ve have worked with many trainers and physical therapists over the years, and Kim is hands down the best!"

I have an achy breaky 62-year-old body with a long history of soft tissue injuries and a couple of chronic pain conditions.   My goals are to improve my strength, balance and agility in order to keep my body as young as possible. I’ve have worked with many trainers and physical therapists over the years, and Kim is hands down the best!

Her level of knowledge surpasses all. She will work you harder than anyone else but all very safely.   No injuries with Kim!   She has high expectations, coaches you in minute detail to meet that expectation, all while being encouraging and patient.  Kim knows how to keep it interesting! I’ve been with Kim nearly a year and each visit is entirely new stuff.   There’s always a twist on something,

It’s a bonus that Perseverance, Kim’s private studio, is clean, very well equipped, and state of the art.  Whatever your needs may be, I highly recommend training with Kim at Perseverance.   You will not find any better!
